Police arrest prime suspect in Bugiri Sheikh’s murder

Police have confirmed the arrest of the suspected hitman who murdered Sheikh Masudi Mutumba the iman of Lwemba Mosque in Bugiri District.

Butumba was shot dead last week at his home located in Busimba village in Bugiri District. The gunman fled immediately, and a manhunt by security agencies ensued.

James Mubi, the police spokesperson Busoga East said the suspect whose details have not been divulged, was arrested in the operation mounted by police and other security agencies. The suspect was found in possession of a gun and a vehicle that was used in the murder.

The suspect is currently held at Central Police Station Headquarters in Kampala, and his arrest brings the number of suspects arrested in the murder of Sheikh Mutumba to Nine.
