Seven (7) out of the thirty summoned players have missed day one training sessions of the U17 Women National team in Njeru at FUFA Technical Center which started on Saturday, the 4th January 2020.

The missing players in the squad include Uganda Martyrs’ Lubaga’s custodian Daphine Nyayenga, Gloria Namugerwa, Catherine Nagadya, Kevin Nakachwa and Brenda Munyana and Hadijjah Nandago of Kawempe Muslim and Isra Soccer Academy’s Sumayiah Kyomuhendo who have joined the team camp in Njeru this evening.

Uganda faces Ethiopia in the first round of FIFA Women World Cup Qualifiers first leg of the two legged fixture to be played in Kampala at Philip Omondi Stadium-Lugogo on January 11th January 2020 and the return leg a week later in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.

Ayub Khalifah is concerned with the team’s low fitness levels after while of break since CECAFA Championship.

“I expected their fitness levels to be a bit down since we have been off for a little while. Our focus today was on assessing and improving their fitness and after, we had some ball work. However, they are not far away from the levels we need”, said Ayub Khalifah Kiyingi.

The team entered a residential training yesterday evening and will be trimmed to the final 18 to battle Ethiopia later this week.
