The UPDF quick reaction force under LDU Entebbe battalion has tracked and arrested a suspected kidnapper in areas of Entebbe.

Bakka Walusimbi 32, has been on the run following an incident on 7th Nov 2019 at Segukku along Entebbe road when he kidnapped two girls and robbed them at gunpoint.

The suspect driving a vehicle registration number UBF 640V Toyota WISH offered the girls a lift to Entebbe, but along the way he stopped and robbed them.

The girls (names withheld) reported the case to the LDU commander Entebbe battalion, and working with police, a search for the car was mounted until last evening when the vehicle was intercepted along Jinja Road leading to Walusimbi’s arrest.

The spokesperson for UPDF 1st Infantry Division Major Yusuf Bilaali Katamba confirmed the arrest and said the suspect is currently in police custody pending criminal prosecution.

In 2017, more than 29 women were murdered in areas of Entebbe and Wakiso following a wave of insecurity that swept the region. Major Katamba appealed to Ugandans to be vigilant and work with security agencies including LDUs especially during the upcoming festive season.
