Around this time last year, the New Eagles singer Irene Namatovu’s inbox was being flooded with congratulatory messages when she emerged as the AFRIMA best African Dance or Choreography Artist of the Year.

This year however, the story is different as she fell short of glory losing to Morocco’s Aminux who was announced as the 2019 Best African Dance or Choreography winner.

The sixth edition of the annual celebrations that recognize African musical talent from various regions across the continent took place on November 23rd at the EKO Convention Center in Lagos, Nigeria. The event was hosted by Pearl Thusi and Eddie Kadi also had many nominees perform at the AFRIMA MUSIC VILLAGE FESTIVAL. It saw several big name artists walk home with awards.

In good faith, Namatovu has also taken to her social media platforms to congratulate Morocco’s Aminux upon winning the 2019 African Dance or Choreography Artist of the Year of the accolade.

“First of all l congratulate him and say, congratulations to my brother Aminux so and so much for this big achievement. It’s really amazing sharing great ideas with different great people in the same industry around Africa and the world at large. I give glory to the God almighty. This has really changed and encouraged me a lot to put in more effort for the next AFRIMA awards edition.” Irene’s Facebook post read.
