BET and African Entertainment Award (AEA) award winner Eddy Kenzo received a heroic welcome from his fans upon his return from the US despite a few challenges back home.

Kenzo’s flight with Fly Emirates was expected to touch down at Entebbe International Airport at Exactly 1pm, but delayed only to reach an hour later at 2pm.

Eddy Kenzo, was on Saturday, October 19, crowned Africa’s best entertainer in the just concluded African Entertainment Awards USA 2019 (AEUSA) in a red carpet ceremony held in New Jersey, USA.

On arrival, hundreds of his fans were already waiting for him dressed in attires depicting their love for him, singing and chanting.

“Welcome back Eddy kenzo, Uganda’s biggest Music Export” one of the labels on the T-shirt’s read. In addition to his fans, Kenzo was also welcomed by his Big-talent Family among which included Artist Newyork, SewaSewa, manager Denis Muganzi, Manager Martin Beta among others . Artiste Khalifa Aganana & Politician Muhammad Segirinya were also in attendance.

Dressed well as a staunch Muslim and holding his latest award from America, Eddy Kenzo proceeded with his fans to the road heading to Kampala from the airport. However, business along Entebbe Road got paralyzed as angry supporters protested the arrest of their fellows by police forcing Eddy Kenzo to stop his convoy for close to an hour and ensure that police released his fans.

After a period of negotiations, the arrested fans were set free and the journey continued. Eddy Kenzo who was cruising in the same car alongside fellow Artist Khalifa Aganaga kept waving to his fans along the way to Namasuba where he branched off en-route to Makindye where he held a press conference at his big talent Offices.

“I dedicate this award to all my fans, to all my people who know the struggle. My name is Eddie Kenzo a very strong boy, street kid and ghetto man but working hard to make a big impression.  I dedicate this to all East African people, thank you so much for the support.” He said.

In his words, Kenzo emphasized that he is done with stressing himself and he has realized that his music is not his alone but for many people. He said he is done with the drama on social media and he is going to concentrate on his career. He however avoided mentioning his nemesis Sheikh Nuhu Muzaata following stinging comments he made at the singer’s ex-girlfriend (Rema Namakula)’s traditional kwanjula ceremony.

As if to silence his critics, Kenzo said he is now stronger, and those that were working to celebrate his downfall should find something else to do, because he’s doing well. We shall keep you posted on this developing story
