KALANGALA DISTRICT: 25 JUNE 2025-
The Electoral Commission of Uganda has declared NRM candidate Idah Nabayiga the winner of the Kalangala District Woman MP by-election after securing 12,642 votes.
Nabayiga defeated NUP candidate Irene Nampala, who polled 7,474 votes, as well as three independent candidates. According to the official results, Sharifah Babirye garnered 244 votes, Hellen Flavia Nagawa secured 217 votes, while Agness Nasuuna received 34 votes.
The results were announced by the Kalangala District Returning Officer, Ronald Agaba, following the conclusion of the voting and tallying exercise. The outcome gives the ruling National Resistance Movement a victory in the island district’s Woman MP race and concludes a closely watched by-election contested by five candidates.
