Empowering Women, Strengthening Families: GROW Project Gains Momentum

KAMPALA UGANDA: 19 APRIL 2026 -In a nation where entrepreneurship is a vital heartbeat of the economy, a transformative initiative is rewriting the narrative for women-owned businesses. The Generating Growth Opportunities and Productivity for Women Enterprises (GROW) Project is not just about business—it is about the foundational strength of the Ugandan family.

A recent campaign by the project highlights a powerful message for the community: “Supporting a woman’s choices does not reduce a man, it strengthens the family.” By encouraging men and families to listen to and respect women’s professional ambitions, the project aims to build a more resilient and prosperous society.

The GROW Project is a strategic Government of Uganda initiative designed to remove barriers that women face in the business world. It is implemented through a collaborative partnership between: The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (MGLSD), The Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU), and The World Bank (Providing technical and financial support)

The core mission is clear: to increase the number, productivity, and competitiveness of women-owned enterprises across the country. Whether in mechanics, agriculture, or tech, the project celebrates women breaking into non-traditional sectors to provide for their households.

The campaign emphasizes that real strength lies in collaboration. By viewing women as equal partners in economic development, the GROW Project suggests that the benefits trickle down to everyone. When a woman-owned business thrives, the entire household gains better access to education, healthcare, and financial stability.

”Real strength is listening, respecting, and building together; respecting women’s voices strengthens the whole family.”
