2 allegedly Murdered in Mukono land Wrangle

Police in Mukono are investigating of murder of a one Lawrence Lwera a peasant of 70 years and Francis Kigozi and his a nephew to Lwera who died on Thursday over alleged land wrangles.

According to the LC chairman of Namubiru Village in Nama Sub County, Mukono District, Henry Kabanda, Lwera, was returning home last night but he was waylaid by his nephew Francis Kigozi.

Kigozi allegedly hit Lwera seriously on the head with a blunt object, but the good Samaritan managed to rescue Lwera and took him to Namirembe Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries later.

It is alleged that upon the community getting information about the incident, they hunted for Kigozi whom they accused of being behind the attack.
The mob arrested Kigozi and lynched him to death a few meters away from his home .

Police were informed late about the incidents when lives had been lost,

Dupty police spokesperson Luke Oweyesigire says they have started investigations into the murder. Both bodies have been taken to Kawolo Hospital for postmortem.

Owesigire added that there are allegations of that the deceased persons had land wrangles.

Kigozi is said to have accused Lwera, his uncle of declining to give him his a piece of land.

“As police we condemn use of violence and mob action to resolve differences. Police will ensure that all the people involved in this violent crime will be arrested and face the law.” Owoyesigire said.
