Police Officer attached to Bobi Wine’s Security hit by a bullet, severely Injured

A police officer attached to National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi’s campaign team was severely injured after he was hit by a rubber bullet during a scuffle between police and Kyagulanyi’s supporters in Kayunga.

The police officer who heads Kyagulanyi’s security detail, only identified as ASP Kato, was allegedly hit by a rubber bullet on the head and sustaining a deep cut. It is also reported that Kato sustained injuries in the mouth area.

ASP Kato in company of his boss (Kyagulanyi) was rushed to Nazigo Health Center III in an ambulance for treatment. By press time, the two were still at the Heath Center seeking treatment. No offical medical report has been released to confirm the condition of the injured police officer yet.

Earlier, Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine attempted to walk to Kayunga with a procession after the Police allegedly blocked him from reaching his destination to which police responded with teargas to disperse crowds of people who accompanied him.

Reports indicate that several supporters and members of Kyagulanyi’s campaign team were also injured in the scuffle with police.

Among those injured is Dan Magic, Bobi Wine’s music producer who was bleeding through the nose and mouth while other sustained injuries on arms and legs.

By 2PM, Kyagulanyi who was scheduled to hold campaign meetings in Kayunga before heading to Jinja, had not held any meeting in the area.
