Kabaka Mutebi’s 27th Coronation Anniversary Program is out -FULL PROGRAM

The administration of Buganda Kingdom has released the program for the 27th coronation anniversary of His Highness Kabaka Ronald Mwenda Mutebi II due on 31st July, 2020.

According to Kingdom’s Minister for Culture Mr. Kiwalabye Male, this year’s anniversary celebrations, this years events will be “scientific” in line with health guidelines against the spread of coronavirus.

Owek. Male said, only 50 selected guests will participate in this year’s events contrary to the usual fete and pomp that characterize the Kings previous coronation anniversaries.

The anniversary events according to the released program will kick-off on Wednesday next week with a sensitization conference meeting for journalist on COVID-19 & HIV/AIDS, starting at 8:PM and conducted via zoom video conferencing technology.

On Friday 24th July, 2020 a meeting of clan heads and sub-county chiefs to discuss how culture can be used in combating Coronavirus disease and HIV/AIDS, will be held.

Saturday 25th July, 2020, the invited guests will be engaged in community work including a tree planting activity. Later on the same day, the Katikkiro, Charles Peter Mayiga will engage Ugandans in the Diaspora in evaluating the progress of the Kingdom agenda.

On Sunday 26th, July 2020, there will be prayers and a thanksgiving ceremony for the life of His Highness the Kabaka at the home of Namirembe Archbishop, The most Reverend Dr Kazimba Mugalu, and another sermon will be later held at Rubaga Cathedral.

Other events will be held on 28th and 29th, while the grand anniversary celebrations for the anniversary will be held on 31st July, 2020 at Twekobe, Mengo Palace.

Owek. Male however stated that some of the norms that are usually observed on such an event will be skipped but confirmed that the Kabaka’s special guest will be coming to attend the event.

Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II’s 26th coronation anniversary celebrations were held at Nkumba University grounds in Wakiso and the special guest was Sultan

The celebrations will be held under the theme: “Culture amidst HIV/AIDS and Coronavirus”
