Media personality Cedric Ndilima Babu in partnership with Ruparelia Foundation today handed food items and soap worth millions of shillings to over 2000 families in areas of Kagugube, Bukesa and Kisenyi in Kampala Central, in solidarity with locals amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

The duo also engaged communities in a sensitization drive on precautions and prevention measures to be taken, to stay safe amidst the coronavirus epidemic that was reported in the country a few weeks ago.

Commenting about the initiative, Cedric said the purpose of the tour is not only to show love and support to residents during trying times of coronavirus, but to also sensitize the locals on what precautions and measures they can undertake to protect their communities against COVID-19.

“We are going through a difficult period right now. This is the time for us to show collective responsibility. We have to unite and pull together as communities and follow the guidelines as set by Ministry of Health if we are to get through the crisis.” Cedric Babu told this website.

Along the tour, Joystna Ruparelia and Cedric Babu are accompanied by LC 1 chairpersons of each division, and doctors to address the communities on coronavirus. The initial plan of the tour is expected to cover several areas of Kampala.

Jyotsna Ruparelia co-founder of Ruparelia Foundation says coronavirus does not discriminate against social class, religion or ethnicity. It simply kills, she says.

“This is the time when we all must know – right from kindergarten going school children to us right up to adults and grandparents that we must come together” Jostina Ruparelia said.

Working under the catchphrase ‘Enriching Lives Together’, for the past seven years the Ruparelia Foundation has worked together with several people championing positive change in different communities across the country to achieve our goal of having improved livelihoods in society.

Cedric says he and his partners will do whatever possible in their means to support the fight against coronavirus, whose effects have economic and social political implications to masses.

The duo will tomorrow on Sunday reach out to residents of Kamwokya 1 and 2, Kololo 1,2,3,4, before proceeding to Mengo, Old Kampala, Nakasero and Industrial Area next week.
