UGANDA POLICE TO BOLSTER THE FORCE WITH 5000 NEW PERSONNEL

The applicants must be citizens of good conduct, physically fit, good communicators and should be ready to undertake basic training of 12 months

Uganda Police Force (UPF) has announced recruitment of 4,500 Probational Police Constables, ahead of the 2021 general elections.

Police had previously indicated that it would be recruiting about 10,000 constables to fill the vacuum created by police constables who have deserted, retired, killed and died of natural illnesses. Deputy police spokesperson, Polly Namaye, shared a statement on police website announcing the forthcoming recruitment of 4,500 probation police constables.

Uganda police last recruited 3,000 constables in the 2015 and since then there has been no fresh recruitment.

“Uganda Police Force announces pending recruitment and invites handwritten applications from suitably qualified candidates aged 18 to 25 years. The candidates are encouraged to get a copy of this advert and follow the guidelines therein as they apply,” Namaye said.

According to the statement, the forthcoming recruitment excercise will see the force also recruit 500 new personnel as Learner Assistant Inspectors of Police (AIPs).

“The applicants must be citizens of good conduct, physically fit, good communicators and should be ready to undertake basic training of 12 months” the statement read in part.

Namaye stated that the application process has already klicked off and clear handwritten application letters, passport photos and copies of useful documents should be delivered by individual applicants to the recruiting team at recruitment venues as per the schedule.

During handover of office last year, the former Inspector General odf Police Gen. Kale Kayihura, said he had left police manpower of 44,600 police officers and constables meaning that after passout of the new recruits, the force will have surged to around 50,000.
