KAMPALA UGANDA: 31 August 2026— A tentative schedule for the return of the body of the late Omukama of Tooro, His Majesty Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, has been released following his passing on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
According to the provisional itinerary issued pending official confirmation by the Royal Family and relevant authorities, the late monarch’s body is expected to arrive in the country on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. via Entebbe International Airport.
Upon arrival, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to receive the body at the airport, pay his last respects to the late Omukama, and formally convey his condolences to the Royal Family, the people of Tooro, and the country at large.
Following the reception at Entebbe, the body will be airlifted by helicopter to Kyegegwa District. From Kyegegwa, the casket will be transferred onto an open carrier for a road procession to the Karuzika Palace in Fort Portal City, the official seat of the Tooro Kingdom.
The road procession is intended to afford thousands of Abatooro and friends of the Kingdom along the route an opportunity to stand in solemn respect and bid farewell to their late King.
The Late King Oyo passed away at the age of 34 while receiving medical treatment in the United States. The Kingdom authorities and organizers have appealed to the public and the people of Tooro to maintain calm, dignity, unity, and respect during this mourning period.
Further details regarding the confirmed official programme, viewing arrangements, procession routes, and burial ceremonies are expected to be released by the Royal Family and official committees in due course.
