Tragedy: Arsenal Fan Struck Dead by Manchester United Supporter in Kampala

What started as a verbal dispute over the football clubs quickly escalated into a violent physical altercation

KAMPALA, Uganda: 24 MAY 2026 — What began as standard football banter between rival English Premier League fans turned tragic on Sunday evening when an Arsenal supporter was struck and killed in Kampala.

​The Uganda Police Force at Old Kampala has launched a manhunt for a suspect following the deadly altercation, which occurred on May 24, 2026, at approximately 6:30 PM in Bakuli, Kampala Central Division.

​A Fatal Disagreement

​According to preliminary police findings, the victim, identified as Denis, a 34-year-old local boda boda rider and resident of Bakuli, was a passionate Arsenal F.C. supporter.

​An argument erupted between Denis and the suspect, identified only as Musiramu, who is reported to be a Manchester United F.C. fan. What started as a verbal dispute over the football clubs quickly escalated into a violent physical altercation.

​”The disagreement escalated into a physical altercation during which the suspect reportedly struck Denis on the head, causing him to collapse and die instantly,” said Rachael Kawala, the police spokesperson.

​Following the fatal blow, the suspect fled the scene. Police have confirmed that active efforts to track down and apprehend Musiramu are currently underway.

​Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been conveyed to the Mulago National Referral Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

​Police are urging anyone with information regarding Musiramu’s whereabouts to step forward as investigations into the tragic incident continue.
