KAMPALA, Uganda: 24 MAY 2026 — What began as standard football banter between rival English Premier League fans turned tragic on Sunday evening when an Arsenal supporter was struck and killed in Kampala.
The Uganda Police Force at Old Kampala has launched a manhunt for a suspect following the deadly altercation, which occurred on May 24, 2026, at approximately 6:30 PM in Bakuli, Kampala Central Division.
A Fatal Disagreement
According to preliminary police findings, the victim, identified as Denis, a 34-year-old local boda boda rider and resident of Bakuli, was a passionate Arsenal F.C. supporter.
An argument erupted between Denis and the suspect, identified only as Musiramu, who is reported to be a Manchester United F.C. fan. What started as a verbal dispute over the football clubs quickly escalated into a violent physical altercation.
”The disagreement escalated into a physical altercation during which the suspect reportedly struck Denis on the head, causing him to collapse and die instantly,” said Rachael Kawala, the police spokesperson.
Following the fatal blow, the suspect fled the scene. Police have confirmed that active efforts to track down and apprehend Musiramu are currently underway.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been conveyed to the Mulago National Referral Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Police are urging anyone with information regarding Musiramu’s whereabouts to step forward as investigations into the tragic incident continue.
