KAMPALA, UGANDA: 03 JAN 2026- The Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Norbert Mao, has issued a statutory instrument authorising the use of Biometric Voter Verification Kits during the 2026 General Elections. He says the instrument is now legally valid and can be implemented by the Electoral Commission.
Biometric machines: Government says they are a must use in 2026 polls
The EC deputy chairperson, Aisha Lubega, reassured the public that the machines will ensure the one-vote principle is adhered to to the letter.
