Sembabule: Police recover bodies of missing children in a pit, 8 suspects arrested

Police in Sembabule District arrested eight (08) suspects in connection with the kidnapping and murder of two children who have been missing only to find their bodies dumped in a pit.

The victims were reported missing at Matete Police Station in Sembabule District on 10th June and 2nd July 2024 while cases of Kidnap/Murder Vide Matete CRB 120/2024 and 140/2024 were filed.

It’s alleged that Asiimwe Julius (6yrs) went missing at around 8PM while his parents were watching TV, and Junju Andrew, (6yrs) was abducted on his way home from St. Herman Kasana Primary School, a short distance away from where the first incident occurred.

According to the Police PRO for Greater Masaka region, SP Kasirye Twaha, the suspects include; Nalukoola Hassan (50) who is the gang leader, Sebunya Muhamed (36), Amon Twinomujuni (47), Muyanja Ashamed (29) all residents of Kasana, Muwonge Matayo (48) Kasaga Peter (45) both from Mateete Town council. Others include Mutebi Isaac, (17) a pupil at Kasana Muslim Primary School, Tumwebaze Elli, 18 years old, a student of form 3 at Matete Comprehensive Secondary School, Kiganda R/D, Matete Town Council

In a statement released on Sunday, Kasirye said the apprehension of suspects led to the recovery of the juveniles who unfortunately had been murdered and their bodies maimed and dumped in a pit.
