Buganda Kingdom royals, Katikkiro issue statement on Kabaka Mutebi ‘s health and whereabouts

Following a meeting which convened today 18th June 2024 at Bulange – Mengo, the Katikkiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga, the clan heads and Prince David Wasajja issued a joint statement clarify the health status and whereabouts of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.

The kingdom officials reaffirmed that the Kabaka of Buganda is still abroad receiving treatment but not bedridden as alleged by some individuals in the public.

The statement highlights that for several years, the Kabaka’s health has not been well and he has been seeking medical treatment from professionals both in Uganda and abroad. In March 2024, during one of his visit to Germany, the doctors advised that he should take a medical break from his work but also guided that he should go to Namibia as it was convenient for him to continue resting and receiving the necessary treatment as well.

The joint statement emphasizes that the Kabaka’s health is being monitored by professional doctors but also called on subjects to remain calm, United and continue praying for the king.

The document signed by Augustine Kizito Mutumba the speaker of the lukiiko, Prince Wasajja on behalf of the royals, and Charles Peter Mayiga emphasized that Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II will return to his Kingdom at an appropriate time.
