Indian national ends his life by jumping from 4th floor of Skyz Hotel

The police at Kira Road are investigating the suspected suicide after Shukla Chiragkumar, a 35 year-old Indian national fell from the top floor of Skyz Hotel in Naguru, Nakawa Division, Kampala City.

It is alleged that the deceased fell from the fourth floor of the building in front of the hotel entrance, breaking his arm. According to a statement by police, Shukla was promptly removed by hotel staff and rushed to UMC Bukoto, where he was pronounced dead.

Kampala Metropolitan police Deputy PRO ASP Luke Owoyesigyire said preliminary investigations reveal that the deceased had checked into room 1402 with an as-yet-unidentified lady with whom he spent the night.

“The motive behind this incident is still under investigation. The body of the deceased has been transported to the city mortuary at Mulago for a postmortem examination. Further details will be provided as they become available” ASP Luke Owoyesigyire

A statement from Protea Hotel -the business conglomerate that manages Kampala Skyz, indicate that Shukla checked in the hotel on Sunday 2nd June 2024, could have been battling a form of mental illness.

“Although this was a situation that was out of our control, we stress that if you or anyone you know of is battling mental health issues/issues, please seek help from a licensed professional or contact mental health Uganda at 0800 212 121. Your life truly matters” part of the statement reads.
