Museveni lauds Amama Mbabazi and his wife for sacrifices during NRM liberation struggles

"I congratulate them first and foremost for being with us in the struggle of reorienting Uganda from the wrong direction to the correct one" President Museveni said.

President Yoweri Museveni lauded the contribution of former Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Amama Mbabazi and his wife, for their roles in the political liberation struggles of Uganda, and for risking their lives for a better future.

Museveni made the remarks at the thanksgiving event as Rt. Hon. Amama Mbabazi and his wife Jacqueline Mbabazi marked 50 years of their marriage.
A high-powered event held at Serena Hotel on Saturday was graced by the president and his wife Janet Museveni, and Mbabazi family’s close friends.

“I congratulate them first and foremost for being with us in the struggle of reorienting Uganda from the wrong direction to the correct one” President Museveni said.

Museveni congratulated Amama Mbabazi and wife Jacqueline on 50 years of marriage, emphasizing their role in Uganda’s reorientation and the resistance struggle, highlighting Mbabazi’s contribution to FRONASA and Uganda’s history.

“For me, their 50 years are made more significant in the context of instability of the resistance struggle and great personal risk due to their work of freedom fighting while at the same time being deliberate about continuity through children and family.” President Museveni later posted on his social media accounts.

“Comrade Amama Mbabazi with the support of Jacqueline, was a critical link to revive the elite component in our operations, right from recruitment of the 28 that formed FRONASA, returning not only trained soldiers but cadres. That force would later grow to 200 before we crossed back to Uganda from Tanzania and to 9000 when we captured Kampala.” He stated before adding;

“Therefore, it would be impossible to talk about Amama Mbabazi without talking about Uganda. Like many other comrades, we cannot forget his contribution to the past or even the future.”
