The territorial traffic police in Rakai, on Tuesday at around 01:30 pm, recorded a fatal accident at Kiganda along Kyalulangira-Isingiro Road in which 10 people lost lives.
Preliminary Investigations indicate that the driver of a Lorry Canter registration number UAP 559X carrying 35 people who were heading to Isingiro, lost control of the vehicle and overturned killing instantly 10 people and injuring 25 others.
According to the PRO road and safety directorate of Uganda Police SP Michael Kananura, traffic police responded to the scene immediately, and the bodies were transported to Kyalulangira Health Center III for post-mortem examination.
SP Kananura says, the victims were also taken the same health centre for first aid, and they were transferred later to Rakia Hospital for treatment.
Police is currently looking for the driver who ran away from the scene and investigations into the cause of the crash have kicked off.
