Candidates wrap up campaigns in By-election for Dokolo Woman MP

Dokolo woman MP by-election attracted six candidates

President Museveni on Tuesday wrapped up campaigns for the Dokolo Woman MP by-election campaigns by backing the NRM candidate Janet Rose Adongo Elau, at a major rally at Bata Seed Secondary school grounds there.

President Museveni pleaded with the locals to embrace Rose Adongo, as the NRM moves to improve infrastructure, especially the Dokolo-Amolatar and the Lira-Aloi-Alebtong roads roads as well as increasing access to electricity in the area.

He held two other rallies, one at Kangai Sub County in Dokolo south. As he rallied support for the NRM flag bearer, Museveni cautioned voters against the politics of identity. He emphasized that this would easily escalate into violence.

Five other candidates are in the race to replace the late Cecilia Ogwal, who passed on in January, including her daughter Dr. Rosemary Ogwal who is contesting on FDC ticket.

Other party leaders including opposition NUP president Hon. Kyagulanyi Robert, Hon. Jimmy Akena president of UPC, and Eng. Patrick Oboi Amuriat were also on ground to support their party flagbearers.

Other candidates are Harriet Ageno from NUP, Esther Akullo Obot, and Anna Grace Lalam, both are independent candidates.
