Prof. Nuwagaba commends establishment of State House Investors Protection Unit

He added: “They (investors) get misinformed, they are losing money because they go to wrong hands. So the portal is extremely impressive.”

Senior economist Professor Augustus Nuwagaba has credited President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for creating the State House Investors Protection (SHIPU) reasoning that it’s work will be pivotal in attracting more investors into the country.

In his address made shortly during his courtesy visit to the Head of Unit Col. Edith Nakalema, prof Nuwagaba stated that the Electronic Investors Protection Portal (EIPP) is a key platform to investors.

“The [EIPP] portal is extremely useful particularly for informing prospective investors. The reason we are not having as much investments as we would have required is because there is lack of information and [many investors] are misguided,” Prof Nuwagaba said.

He added: “They get misinformed, they are losing money because they go to wrong hands. So it [the portal] is extremely impressive.”

He therefore thanked the Head of State President Museveni creating a platform that collaborates information from concerned Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and avails investors with authentic information under a centralized system.

“I want to commend the protection Unit and also to commend State House for having found reason for establishing because our investors have suffered a great. It is not possible that investors should continue suffering,” Prof Nuwagaba said.
