Entebbe Airport reports second highest passenger traffic record in January 2024

The rise in passenger traffic in 2024, according to PRO for the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA), Vianney Luggya, is partly attributed to Uganda's hosting of NAM and G77+China meetings last month

Entebbe International Airport recorded the second highest passenger traffic in January 2024, a monthly record only rivalled by the figures registered by the airport during NAM and G77 international summits in Kampala.

According to Civil Aviation Authority, a total of 196,211 International passengers passed through Entebbe International Airport in January 2024, of which 99,216 were incoming passengers while 96,995 we’re departing passengers.

This reflects to an average of 6329 passengers per day, the second highest figure to be recorded in a single month after the 6418 passengers recorded per day in December 2023.

The rise in passenger traffic in 2024, according to PRO for the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA), Vianney Luggya, is partly attributed to Uganda’s hosting of NAM and G77+China meetings last month.

“Entebbe International Airport facilitated a total of 1918 delegates to the summits and this certainly contributed to the increase in passenger traffic” He said.

In relation to cargo, Luggya said Entebbe International Airport recorded 1579 metric tonnes of inputs and 3604 metric tonnes -a total of 5088 metric tonnes in January 2024.
