Police intensify manhunt for Inmates who Escaped from Mityana Prison

The Mityana territorial police have put up a serious manhunt for three male inmates who escaped from Mityana government prison on 06.12.2023 around 1600 hrs.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the inmates were being escorted to their wards after meals, when four individuals jumped over the fence. While one was successfully re-arrested, the remaining three managed to escape.

The escapees have been identified as: Mfitumukiza Francis, 24 years old, from Rubange village, Murora subcounty, Kisoro district, facing charges of murder and aggravated robbery.

The second escapee is Nasasira Gideon, 37 years old, from Muko village, Muko subcounty, Rubanda district, charged with aggravated robbery.

Another one is Hakiza Joseph, 27 years old, from Nyarubuye village, Katobo Parish, Nyarubuye subcounty, Kisoro district, facing charges of aggravated defilement.

According to the PRO Wamala region Racheal Kawala, a case of escape from lawful custody has been registered under Mityana CRB 1197, with ongoing search efforts.
