UPDF Generals off to Algeria to Benchmark on Military Museum

A team of UPDF Generals and Senior Officer are a mission in Algeria to Benchmark on the development of a Military Museum in Uganda.

The UPDF high-powered delegation led by the Chief Political Commissar Maj. Gen Henry Masiko are away on a week long study visit to Algerian Military Museum to get best practices that will be applied as UPDF moves to establish a National military Museum in Uganda at Katonga in Mpigi district.

The delegation according to the Deputy Defense spokesperson Col. Deo Akiiki includes Maj. Gen Moses Rwakitarate, the UPDF Defence Advisor to Algeria Brig. Sam Omara, the UPDF National Military Meusiam Coordinator Maj. Maruti and others.

Their mission in the Algerian capital is to also follow up on the MoU between Algeria and Uganda after the Visit by H. E President Yoweri Museveni to Algeria in March 2023.

While in Algeria, they met the director of the central military museum who briefed them on the history of the Algerian military Meseum.

UPDF since 2020 embarked on a long journey of establishing a national military Museum and a foundation stone was laid by His Excellency President Museveni on the 20th of December 2020. However, the project has been slow due to funding.
