Six (06) radio stations have been closed by Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), over non-compliance with the law because their owners have been operating without a broadcasting licence.

According to a notice of closure issued by UCC, the stations including Radio Divine 90.6 located in Apac district operating under Divine Partners Limited, Hot FM 101.6 in Amolatar (Hot FM Limited), Kisoro FM 91.1 in Kisoro District (Mgahinga Investments limited), 102.2FM Iraka Ryentunguka (Millennium voice radio) located in Ruhira Isingiro District, Peace FM 93.7FM (Salt & Light Christian church) located in Kitgum, and Clouds 98.5FM in Fort-portal operating under Welsto company Limited, have been repeatedly operating without licences.

Alongside a 0ctober 02, 2023 notice issued to the owners and management of the 6 Radio stations, UCC indicates that the broadcasting operations have been terminated due to consistent failure to acquire a valid broadcasting license from the Commission.

According to Section 26(1) of the UCC Act 2013, a person shall not install or operate a radio station or any broadcasting apparatus without a broadcasting licence issued by the commission.
