Four people have been confirmed dead in a road accident which occured on Sunday morning at Myanzi Trading Centre in Kassanda District along the Mubende-Mityana highway.
Preliminary investigations by police suggest that a black Fuso Fighter motor vehicle, registration UAY 415C, loaded with matooke and heading towards Kampala from Mubende, experienced a brake failure. The vehicle lost control and overturned, resulting in the instantaneous death of four occupants and injuring three.
According to the Police PRO Wamala region SP Rachel Kawala, the identities of the deceased remain to be confirmed. The injured have been identified as follows:
1. Nambusi Grace, 40 years old, residing in Kikajo, Namasuba, Wakiso District.
2. Bright Patrick, 34 years old, a business person residing in Kibiri-Busabaala, Wakiso District.
3. Nadunga Lydia, 42 years old, a businesswoman residing in Kalerwe.
The bodies of the deceased have been transported to Kassanda Health Center IV mortuary, awaiting postmortem examinations.
Kawala says the injured have been taken to Mityana Hospital for necessary medical care and the motor vehicle involved has been towed to Myanzi Police Station pending an Inspection of Vehicles (IOV) assessment.
