Police today reported a Motor vehicle fire incident along Kampala – Masaka Highway involving a range Rover Sport which mysteriously caught fire and burnt to ashes.
The incident happened today morning at around 0840hrs at a place called Jandira Kayabwe Town Council in Mpigi district along Kampala/ Masaka highway.
According to the PRO Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety Faridah Nampiima, the vehicle -Range Rover sport (blue color) registered number UAS066Q was headed towards Masaka when the incident happened.
Nampiima identified the driver as Emorut Joshua Egweu, a resident of Mutungo, Nakawa division in Kampala, and efforts by the locals to put off the fire went futile and the car burnt to ashes.
It is alleged that the car developed a mechanical fault and smoke began fuming from the engine. This prompted the driver to park off the road upon being alerted by other motorists.
