7 family members confirmed with Ebola in Kampala as cases rise to 14 in one Day

7 family members are among the latest confirmed positive cases for Ebola in Greater Kampala region bringing the total number of cases to 14 in the last 48 hours.

According to the minister for Health Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, nine (9) individuals were yesterday 23rd October 2022, confirmed with the Ebola Hemorrhagic fever which was declared in Uganda on 20th September 2022.

In a message she posted on her Twitter, Dr. Aceng says the 9 cases are contacts of the fatal case who came from Kassanda district and passed on in Mulago Hospital.

“The cases in Kampala include 7 family members from Masanafu and 1 health worker who managed him in a private clinic together with his wife who hails from Seguku.” Dr. Aceng wrote.

The Ministry of Health calls upon members of the public to be vigilant and report contacts of cases or any person who is suspected to have Ebola.
