5 bodies so far recovered from rubble after Namulanda Stone quarry accident

Police fire rescue service in conjunction with locals have so far recovered five dead bodies from rubble following yesterday’s accident in Namulanda Wakiso district when part of a stone quarry caved in and buried them.

According to the Metropolitan Kampala Police Deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, the dead have been identified as Nsumba Abdu (35) driver of Isuzu truck UBL456T who had gone to collect gravel from the stone quarry.

Others are; Kaggwa Ronald (30) Kasule vincent(_), Irumba Junior (24) and Lubogo Posiano (39) all casual labourers.

Last evening, police reported that atleast three people were trapped under the rubble in a stone quarry at Nganjo LC 1 Kajjansi Town Council, Namulanda in Wakiso District.

Owoyesigyire says police investigations are still going on and the quarry has been cordoned as a no-go area for members of the public as it is currently a threat to people living in sorrounding areas.
