Makerere opens admissions for Undergraduate Gov’t sponsorship in 8 public universities

Makerere University has announced opening of admission of students for undergraduate courses to 8 public universities and Tertiary Institutions on government sponsorship, for the academic year 2022/2023.

According to the university academic registrar, Alfred Masikye Namoah, suitably and qualifying Ugandans are urged to apply for government sponsorship starting 11th July 2022; for admission in Makerere University, Mbarara University of science and Technology, Kyambogo University, Gulu University, Busitema University, Muni University, Kabala University and Lira University.

Eligibility for this government sponsorship programme requires the applicant to possess at-least (2) Principal Passes at Advanced level (UACE) or its equivalent obtained at the same sitting and at-least (5) passes at Ordinary level or its equivalent obtained at the same sitting. Only candidates who sat A-level exams in 2020, 2019 and 2018 are eligible.

Candidates who are not Ugandan nationals and those who are already admitted and registered for similar government sponsorship programmes are not eligible to apply.

According to the academic registrar Makerere Universty, submission of applications for the sponsorship can be conducted online using the ACIMIS system upon payment of a non-refundable fee of 52,000/= and after getting an ACIMIS system-generated pay reference number on URL http//admissions.mak.ac.ug and follow the steps.

Alternatively, applicants can download the application form from the institution’s website http//www.mak.ac.ug, and attach copies of payment receipts as well as UNEB “O” and “A” level result slips. The hardcopies can then be submitted to the academic registrar, admissions office Makerere University Senate Building Level 3.

The closing date for returning filled application forms and required attachments is Friday 5th August 2022.

The academic registrar also warns that grave consequences await candidates who submit forged academic documents.
