Tororo Cement hands over a 200M facility constructed to serve as Police Station

As part of Social Corporate Responsibility, Tororo Cement factory on Sunday handed over to government a fully furnished building constructed to serve as Osukuru Police Station in the newly created Osukuru Town Council, Tororo District

The handover of the 200 million shillings facility was witnessed by the Tororo District Security Committee Led by the RDC Nixion Owole, the district Chairperson John Okeya and the Tororo county south member of parliament, Hon Fredrick Angura, and other local leaders who were present for its commissioning.

On behalf of Tororo factory, the Chief Executive Officer Brij Mohan Gagrani, said security is key for the people of Osukuru Town Council where the factory is located and called upon the community not to avoid the Station because it is not for the factory but for the community and Uganda as a whole.

At the event, the Tororo District Police Commander (DPC) Rodgers Chebene commended Tororo Cement for the offer and urged the officers to utilize the facility well but also called upon community members in the locality to also make good use of it in access to justice. He committed himself to doing his supervisory role to ensure the station serves the public in handling the various challenges the residents face.

Toto Stanslaus Ofono the LC3 chairperson thanked Tororo Cement factory for remembering the newly created town council adding that he is hopeful the deployment will be done immediately so as to curb criminal acts of theft, prostitution and murder which of recent have been on the rise in the area.

Tororo county south member of parliament Hon Angura Fredrick commended the factory for space and funds spent towards building the facility saying the donation forms part of the effort towards achieving social economic transformation since security is a key pillar in developing Uganda.

Angura urged police authorities to enhance vigilance, good use of the facility, professionalism and community outreach Osukuru Police Station is location is along the busy Tororo jinja highway. “With value additional services such as CCTV cameras along the roads and now 999 services brought closer to the people, it means government is focusing towards better service delivery to it’s citizens and investors” Hon Angura said.
