Dozens of people sustained injuries today after a passenger bus they were travelling in overturned in a serious accident along Kampala – Masaka Highway.
According to eyewitnesses, the bus registration number UAX 283A belonging to Global Coaches Ltd driven by Bityaho Isaac coming from Kampala towards Masaka overturned after it’s driver attempted to avoid a head-on collision with Mitsubishi Canter UBJ 648J which was loaded with Matooke.
So far, no fatalities have been reported and the injured were rushed to nearby health centers for medical attention. Reports indicate that majority of the passengers were travelling to villages to celebrate Easter holiday with their loved ones.
The accident happened at Nabyewanga village along Masaka highway at around 10:20HRS after the bus which was overtaking sewed to the left, knocked the rail guard before it overturned a few yards from the road.
Police visited the scene as investigations commence to ascertain the actual cause of the accident.
