The Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) has directed headteachers across the country to handle the student corsework assessment marks with caution since they are still a critical ingridient of the final results at the end of the academic year.

In a circular issued on March 15, 2022, UNEB Executive Director Dan Odongo told schools headteachers to prepare to submit all coursework assessment marks for Term one and Term two of the school academic year 2022 before October 15, 2022 without fail.

In the circular, Mr Odongo reminded Secondary School headteachers and students in candidate classes to take note that this year, any candidate with no or incomplete corsework marks shall not be graded in respective subjects.

UNEB further notes that any candidate who for whatever reason, transfers from one center to another, should ensure that his or her coursework assessment marks are transfered to the new centre.

The directive from UNEB comes at a time when schools across the country are preparing for close of term one, as schools are expected to enforce a new student assessment policy that replaces end-of-term exams. Under the new policy, schools must instead adopt continous assessment of student’s perfomance through courseworks issued regulary.

According to UNEB, submission of coursework assessment marks for Term one and Term two shall be done electronically starting August 15, 2022 and ending on September 30, 2022. Late submission of coursework marks between 1st to 15th October 2022 shall attract a surcharge of 50,000/ per candidate.

However, Dan Odongo says UNEB will not allow submission of cousework assessment marks after October 15, 2022.
