2 Police officers gunned down in Kiboga, their Guns also stolen

The territorial police in Kiboga has registered an incident of a double murder of two police officers and the aggravated robbery of their guns.

The incident occurred on Thursday December 16, 2021, at around 7.30pm, at Nakasozi police post, in Kiboga District.

According to the spokesperson Wamala Region, ASP Racheal Kawala, the slain officers identified as; Cpl Nsubuga Francis and SPC Ddimba Paul were attacked while seated at the police post by a gang of 4 armed men dressed in civilian attire.

This is the second such kind of attack within a duration of nine days, targeting police officers and their guns.

According to police records, four policemen have been killed in six deadly ambush attacks in less than two weeks, raising concerns among the force’s top leadership on the actual motive of the attacks. The attacks have been registered the in areas of Busunju, Wakiso, Mbarara and Soroti district, where four police officers lost their lives and guns were stolen.

Corporal Okech Alfred and PC Moses Kigongo, were attacked on 07th December at Busunju police station and shot dead as they were responding to a robbery alarm in the area. David Okiror and Emmanuel Okirima, both LDU personnel attached to Kakiri were also attacked by about five people who cut them with pangs and robbed their SMG rifles with two magazines and 120 live ammunition rounds on 25th of last month in Wakiso district.

During a press conference on Monday, police spokesperson Fred Enanga said the motive of the suspects is not yet determined but investigations into the incident had kicked off.

ASP Kawala says teams from the Police Flying squad unit have been dispatched to team up with the territorial police and ensure the suspects in the latest incident are identified and brought to justice.
