The sprint to find medical breakthroughs to contain Covid-19 as pharmaceutical giants operating in hi-tech laboratories work to develop treatments could be on, but a herbal remedy might come sooner.

Forget about the Madagascar President Andry Rajoelina’s concoction whose popularity and results faded like nothing and one had to incur shipping expenses and a long wait until it is delivered.

In Uganda, a home-made remedy prepared from easily accessible local herbs is quickly getting approval from users (especially on social media) for being effective in containing the deadly coronavirus.

Prepared from Ginger, Onions, Rede Pepper and Lemons, this concoction was first approved by Dr. Kiiza Besigye as an effective immune booster but it could be a life saver we have been looking out for.

According to Dr. Besigye, 10-15 pieces of garlic, 2 lemons, 4 thumb-size pieces of ginger and 5 red pepper are blended in 1 liter of hot water, left to cool down and you take 2 table spoon-full of the concoction after every 8 hours; simple!

A medical doctor by training, Dr. Besigye says the concoction is a very effective immunity booster and the idea is to save lives through having it freely available to all.

“I also learnt it from others…the idea is to save lives thru having it freely available to all. It’s very effective. Uganda now faces the last (4th) stage of COVID19 disease transmission; Widespread Community Transmission! Use of an Immune Booster is advisable for all” Besigye posted on Twitter on Sunday.

SOME OF THE APPROVALS:

“Our drivers here drive Kisumu-Kampala-Kibali(DRC) & Mobasa- Kampala and they use Dr. Besigye’s recommended herbal medicine and it has proved effective. Dr. Besigye God bless you!!” Mathius L from Kenya posted in response to Kiiza Besigye’s post.

“That concoction is what saved me from that deadly disease” Gerald Mutula posted.

FACT CHECK ON INGRIDIENTS:

Garlic is nature available antibacterial and antiviral agent that is very beneficial to kick out illness causing enzymes.

Lemons too are full of vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients and antioxidants, and they are especially good sources of vitamin C and folate a vital ingredient in building immunity and fighting off infections.

Onions are packed with nutrition and nutrients that not only help the body fend off heart conditions, disease and cancers, but they can help maintain a healthy gut. Onions are particularly rich in prebiotics, which help increase the number of friendly bacteria in your gut to build immunity from viruses such as coronavirus.

Ginger also has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which can prevent cell damage and help ward off a number of diseases.

“Why doesn’t @kizzabesigye1 patent his Covid19 concoction? I have heard confessions of people who took it and they’re all praises of the man” a Journalist Simon Kaggwa Njala remarked with a comment.
