KASESE: At least 3 injured as police clash with Bobi’s supporters

At least three people were seriously injured after police fired teargas to disperse National Unity Platform supporters in Kasese District on Tuesday.

The injured, according to reports, sustained injuries on legs arising from tear-gas canisters thrown by police into Kyagulanyi’s supporters. Reliable reports confirmed that two females were hit by canisters and one male sustained bullet injuries.

According to Kyagulanyi, efforts to campaign over local radios were also blocked after hours of cat and mouse chase as police battled surging crowds on account of preventing spread of COVID-19.

“In Kasese, yet again the military and police unleashed incredible violence on unarmed citizens, leaving many with grave injuries. Their crime? Trying to come out and listen to our message! Messiah Radio which we booked for an evening program has been ordered to cancel the show!” Kyagulanyi posted on his twitter account Tuesday evening.

Bobi says on reaching the station, management informed him that they received orders from Lt. Gen. Mbadi not to host them or they would face repercussions.
