Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang finally confirmed his commitment to Arsenal by signing a new contract extension ending speculation about his future with the club.

Through a live broadcast on his social media accounts, Arsenal confirmed a new contract for Aubameyang. The contract will bind Aubameyang until 2023.

The new deal, believed to be worth around £300,000 per week, represents a huge win for Mikel Arteta who has repeatedly said that he wants to build his team around the 31-year-old.

The continuation of Aubameyang’s future at Arsenal was a question mark because his contract expires in the summer of 2021. Until last season’s competition was over, the Gabon international striker had not yet signed a contract renewal.

This situation made Aubameyang begin to reportedly leave Arsenal after the Gunners ended the season in a disappointing manner having only finished eighth in the Premier League standings.

He was reportedly the target of Barcelona and Inter Milan. However, now Aubameyang is certain to stay at Arsenal after signing a new contract.

Aubameyang was recruited from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018 for 56 million pounds. Aubameyang’s transfer value at that time was a record for Arsenal.

Since then, Aubameyang has become one of the important pillars in the London Cannon attack line. Last season, he became Arsenal’s top scorer in the Premier League by collecting 22 goals. The 31-year-old striker also played an important role in Arsenal’s success in winning the FA Cup and Community Shield trophies.

In the Premier League match week, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang contributed one goal against Fulham to help Arsenal win 3-0. Now he has scored 72 goals in 111 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions.
