The katikkiro of Buganda Kingdom, Charles Peter Mayiga has rubbished claims that Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II is sick and hospitalized saying he is safe and not hospitalized as claimed on socialmedia.
Mayiga made the pronouncement on Monday in a press conference held in Mengo, the administration center of the Kingdom.
The move follows socialmedia reports on Friday alleging that the Kabaka was rushed to hospital in the neighboring Kenya after his heath deteriorated. The rumor was also backed by voice notes from individuals claiming they are Kabaka Mutebi’s relatives, demanding to know the health status of their King.
In his message, Katikkiro Mayiga said the Kabaka is healthy and fully in charge of the monarchy.
He said the rumor is spread by self seekers and the do-nothings who spend most of the time on socialmedia.
Mayiga also appealed to the King’s subjects to always look out for information regarding the affairs of the Kingdom, only through official channels.
