Uganda has registered her second case of coronavirus death.

The Ministry of Health identified the deceased as an 80 -year-old female resident of Mengo Kisenyi III.

The woman was first admitted at Platinum hospital in Kampala on Friday 24th July 2020 at 5:00 PM and later referred to Mengo hospital for further treatment.

According to the MOH, the case presented with signs and symptoms consistent with COVID-19 which included cough, fever, chest pain and difficulty in breathing.

She was referred to Mengo hospital from Platinum on that day but passed away on the same day at 6:30PM. Samples were drawn and sent to the Uganda Virus Research Institute for analysis and results showed samples tested positive for SARS -COV2.

MOH says contact tracing and listing process has been initiated but promised to provide additional information later.

Uganda registered its first COVID-19 death in Namisindwa district on July 21, 4 months after the pandemic was reported in the country.

The first case was a 34 year old Ugandan female, resident of Namisindwa District who presented with COVID like signs and symptoms fever, dry cough, headache and difficulty in breathing.

In the same vein, 12 new covid-19 cases were confirmed today in Uganda including a Kenyan truck driver, 7 contacts to previously confirmed cases and a returnee who arrived from Kenya.
