The NRM government has achieved 80% of the targets as highlighted in the 2016-2021 party manifesto according to Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda.

In a statement during the launch of the manifesto week, Dr. Rugunda said a number of gains have been made in different sectors since 2016 when the NRM government was elected into power, and government is on course to achieve the set targets..

According to Dr. Rugunda, the achievements include; The commissioning of Isimba Dam which has added 183MW of power to the national grid, revival of Uganda Airlines, commissioning Mulago Women’s specialized hospital, opening of several factories, among others.

Rugunda said Entebbe Express Highway was commissioned, the Nile bridge was opened in Jinja, Expansion of Entebbe International Airport and several other projects have been undertaken during this term.

“In implementing the manifesto, we have faced some challenges such as delays in acquisition of land for flagship projects across all sectors. compensations remain expensive and sometimes delay project executions. There is also corruption which undermines our efforts to achieve our targets” Rugunda said.

Rugunda said, had it not been for COVID-19 pandemic, the NRM government would have achieved much more during this term.

He said he is going to use the manifesto week to take stock of NRM’s achievements, the challenges encountered so far, which will help government to evaluate and do better next term.

In the course of two weeks, different sector ministers will be informing Ugandans about what is happening in their dockets in regard to the NRM manifesto.

I would like to thank the NRM manifesto implementation team and the minister for presidency Esther Mbayo for driving this process.

“Four years into this term, we would like to inform Ugandans that we are on course to achieve the targets we set together with the people of Uganda.” Rugunda said.
