By Ash Kings

The total number of people who have recovered from the COVID-19 has now surpassed the number of active cases in Uganda. This is after 10 more people were discharged on Monday.

The 10, according to the Ministry of Health, include 5 Watoto choir members, 3 of their caretakers and 2 boda boda cyclists who had previously tested positive.

One of the boda-boda rides is from Kasubi, while the other one is from Kalangala.

According to Emmanuel Ainebyoona, a senior public relations officer at the Ministry of Health, a patient is only discharged after testing negative twice so that the healthy workers can be sure that he/she is completely free of the Coronavirus.

The discharge now brings the total recovered cases to 38 while the active cases are now at 18 with a national cumulative total of confirmed cases still at 55. Uganda has not recorded any death related to COVID-19.

The recovered patient from Kalangala island will be taken home tomorrow after the community has been oriented and sensitized -State Minister PHC, Moriku Kaducu said.
