Gen. Kainerugaba Arrives in Kigali Ahead of Kagame’s Swearing in Ceremony

Gen Muhoozi, who is also the Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, is expected to hold meetings with President Paul Kagame and his counterpart, Gen Mubarak Muganga.

The UPDF Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, arrived at Kigali International Airport this afternoon to attend Rwanda President Paul Kagame’s swearing-in ceremony on Sunday.

Gen Muhoozi was received by his Rwandan counterpart, Gen Mubarak Muganga, and other senior RDF officers. He is accompanied by Maj Gen James Birungi, the Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security, and Brig Gen Richard Karemire, who heads the UPDF’s joint staff formal education, sports, and culture department. Alexander Akandwanaho and Andrew Mwenda are also part of his entourage.

During his stay in Kigali, Gen Muhoozi, who is also the Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, is expected to hold meetings with President Paul Kagame and his counterpart, Gen Mubarak Muganga.

The Ugandan General is credited for his efforts that resolved a standoff that had stalled business and curtailed movement between Uganda and Rwanda.
