Bomb scare: Police investigating two separate blasts in Kampala

Police are actively investigating two separate blasts which went off simultaneously on December 03, 2023 in the Kampala District, and raised concerns within the community.

In Mayor Zone, Kabalagala Parish, Makindye Division, at about 9 pm, a business premise specializing in frying chips experienced an incident that led to a blast.

Simultaneously, in Nabweru, Nansana Municipality, the police bomb squad and forensic services responded to a blast heard around 9 pm. The blast occurred in one of the unoccupied rentals.

“Fortunately, no fatalities were reported in both incidents. However, Nakasagga Joy (23) the owner of the business in Kabalagala sustained minor injuries but she is currently in stable condition.” Police reported in a statement.

According to the Deputy PRO for Kampala Metropolitan Police ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, teams of experts from Uganda police force are actively investigating the cause of the two blasts, and updates on the findings will be communicated as soon as investigations are complete.

In a short statement, Owoyesigyire urged the general public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their communities.

“Your cooperation is crucial in maintaining the safety and security of our neighborhoods.” He stated.
