Outgoing Minister for Works and Transport Gen Katumba Wamala survived an assassination attempt this morning after gunmen showered his vehicle with bullets.
News coming in indicates that unknown gunmen shot at the vehicle registration number H4DF 2138 in which Gen Wamala was travelling and fled. Reports indicate that Gen Katumba’s driver and daughter have been confirmed dead.
The incident happened along Kisota Road, Bukoto Kampala.
Katumba’s slain daughter has been identified as Brenda Nantongo and the driver is Haruna Kayondo. Both died on the spot while the General escaped with gunshot wounds in the chest.
Katumba has been rushed to hospital. The video this website has seen show Katumba in a bloodstained shirt holding his shoulder part.
KMP Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire could not comment on the matter and implored us to call later.
