Bombo Pastor arrested for alleged 4BN fraud

The State House Anti-corruption Unit has arrested a pastor on allegations of fraud to the tune of 4billion Uganda shillings.

Pastor Sirajje Semanda, founder of Revival Church Bombo located in Bombo Town, Luweero District was arrested for allegedly defrauding over 400 private school owners and thousands of parents of vulnerable children, over UGX4Bn.

According to State House Anti-corruption Unit, Pastor Sirajje defrauded his victims on promises of getting them scholarships, trips abroad and connecting them to Operation Wealth Creation program (OWC) a government programme for poverty eluviation among citizens.

Pastor Sirajje was handed over to police as investigations proceed into the matter and possible prosecution.

Led by Lt. Col Edith Nakalema, the Unit was created to supplement anti-corruption agencies in the country and by September 2020, the Unit had visited 27 districts, listened to people affected by corruption and embezzlement of public funds worth sh250b.

The agencies according to Edith Nakalema, had also intervened into other cases of social injustice, and taken to courts of law 225 persons, including 180 public officials.
