A Ugandan scientist has invited the Ministry of Health to undertake trials on his product which he claims has capacity to cure coronavirus.
Robert Kijumbi, a graduate in Science Technology-Biology from Kyambogo University claims he has been doing private research in the field of molecular medicine, and one of his key milestones is a cure for HIV infection.
In a letter this website saw, Mijumbi, a researcher with Biobert Research Group Limited says, he has designed an enzyme that has capacity to digests the coronavirus.
Mijumbi says the first trial for the drug was done in April 2018, and up to now the individual is still negative. He says, the drug is administered intravenously and the viral load turns undetected within a period of four weeks.
He claims his drug can generate positive results against coronavirus since both coronavirus and HIV share molecular characteristics.
“Basing on my experience in dealing with HIV, an RNA virus like corona, Iam strongly compelled to believe that the same procedure used to develop a cure against HIV infection can generate positive results against coronavirus.”
“I have gone ahead and created a protein which i am certain can cure COVID-19 infection” the letter reads in part.
He says the therapy is done intravenously, and because of the specificity of the enzyme, recovery is expected with immediate effect. He asserts that it takes ten days for him to produce the enzyme.
He is ready for discussions with government in case they are interested, the letter reads.
