Museveni passes out 6376 LDUs, says Criminality will soon be defeated

Over 6000 Local Defense Unit personnel were passed out today at Kaweweta Military training school in Nakaseke District.

The CIC President Yoweri Museveni presided over the pass out that saw 6065 men and 311 women graduate in skills to respond to military threats, and prevent crime in the country.

At the pass out, Museveni said the training and deployment of LDUs is one of the steps his government undertook to upgrade Uganda’s defense and security posture to a higher level after some people started using crime to undermine the progress of NRM especially in Kampala area. He said the motive is to immunize the country against criminality. He said it will soon be defeated.

Museveni appealed to the trainees to preserve their health and avoid risky behavior that can undermine their capacity to put the acquired skills into service, which contracting killer diseases like HIV, smoking, alcohol drinking, and drug abuse.

Among the LDUs passed out today, 340 are Diploma holders, while more than 100 completed ‘A’ levels and above.

The CDF Gen. David Muhoozi urged the trainees to maintain discipline, respect civilians, be loyal, and be mindful of UPDF’s image.
