CDF Muhoozi Keinerugaba promotes Army Generals of the UPDF

According the army spokesperson Major General Felix Kulayigye, the promotions are in line with the new establishment and their flawless track records of excellent service.

The Chief of Defence Forces and Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations and Chief of Defense forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba has promoted three General officers to the Ranks of Acting Major General in the Uganda People’s Defense forces.

The promoted generals include: Brigadier General Charles Byanyima to Acting Major General, Brigadier General Deus Sande to Acting Major General, and
Brigadier General Daniel Kakono to Acting Major General.

According to a statement from the army spokesperson Major General Felix Kulayigye, the promotions are in line with the new establishment and their flawless track records of excellent service.

Brig Gen Deus Sande the commander of the UPDF Armoured Brigade in Masaka, is known for political statements he made at the peak of the 2021 general elections saying the army was not ready to accept an opposition presidential candidate. His remarks contravene the standing orders for serving army officers.

“We are not planning a handover to you. We will not hand over Uganda to politicians with no vision.” He said in October 2020.
