Amidst rising cases of COVID-19 infections in Uganda, Dr. Kiiza Besigye has again rose to the occasion in prescribing a possible remedy to combat the deadly coronavirus that is now rapidly spreading in communities.

Besigye has prescribed 5 important and life-saving tips he says are a remedy to the deadly disease that has claimed lives of prominent citizens the latest being the second Deputy Prime Minister, Kirunda Kivejinja.

Top on the list of Dr. Besigye’s prescription is to ensure prevention of the spread through personal Hygiene, use of a face mask, physical distancing and going into self-isolation in case one has flu symptoms or having come in close contact with an infected person.

The second remedy Dr. Besigye prescribes is protecting the “highly vulnerable.” The 60 year-old and above, those with chronic diseases like heart disease, high-blood pressure, Asthma, diabetes, cancer and conditions affecting the immune system.

Besigye, a medical doctor-turned politician says these should operate from home as far from workplaces as possible, and avoid visits or mixing with young people. He says Christmas may become dangerous to this group due to visitors.

Thirdly, Dr. Besigye prescribes promoting personal immunity from the virus. Eating a balanced diet from natural foods, avoiding sugary drinks or foods, and regular intake of immune boosters is important -according to Besigye. Regular body exercise (at-least 30minutes everyday) sleep at-leat 8 hours a day, abstaining from smoking, reduced intake of alcoholic drinks, and avoiding stressful situations is important in combating COVID-19.

Besigye also prescribes steaming therapy as a remedy to the escalating COVID-19 infections in Uganda. Steaming, according to Besigye, can be done at all times but most important when one has flu symptoms. Adding Thyme, Mint, Eucalyptus, Basil, and Rosemary can add to the benefits of steam therapy.

Finally, Besigye says those with symptoms like fever (high temperature, chest pain, dry cough, sore throat, tiredness, headache, loss of taste or smell, inflamed eyes must immediately seek medical attention.

The opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) strongman says, with government response “in disarray” Ugandans should adhere to these personal measures to safeguard their lives and their families.

He says the reality is that the country is experiencing the highest level and uncontrollable COVID-19 transmission but again dogged with pervasive corruption and bad governance.
